Russ Scalf is an editorial photojournalist based out of Charleston, South Carolina. He began his photography career as a United States Air Force Photojournalist. Scalf has been recognized by the Air Force for his ability to tell the military story in a compelling and unique fashion, always striving to give a voice to the men and women serving our country at home and abroad.
His assignments varied from flying in F-15 fighter jets, to teaching the military’s next generation of photographers. Russ Scalf’s photos and videos have been featured on numerous websites, newspapers, calendars, magazines, and books. His work has been recognized with awards from the National Press Photographers Association and Military Photographer of the Year competition.
He is currently working on projects dealing with the outdoors and conservation. An appreciation of these ways of life were instilled by his parents, and they are values that he still admires today.

Scalf is also is a tournament bass angler who enjoys sharing those experiences with others. In 2015 he began combining his photo background with his love of the outdoors. He also enjoys writing and authors a column for 13Fishing.com, as well as working with the marketing directors of several other major outdoors brands.
When he’s not on assignment or on the water, Russ stays busy helping his wife, Jessi, raise their 9-year-old son, Jackson.
